Laborer shot dead in Abra

BANGUED, Abra – A construction worker was shot dead in Sitio Tingga, Barangay Caboloan, this capital town, on Monday evening, September 16.

Police identified the victim as Raniel Romero of Barangay Calaba here.

Investigation disclosed that the victim stopped by to take shelter in the premises of a house due to heavy rain onboard a motorcycle when a man appeared and shot him.

The victim fled and the house owner reported the incident to the police.

Romero was declared dead in a hospital. Follow-up probe is ongoing.

The Diocese of Bangued have condemned the recent spate of killings in the province and called on the government to act on the matter.
