James Reid made clear Careless Music Management didn't give Liza Soberano the boot.

Note the company recently confirmed via social media that Liza was no longer with them, following much speculation. 

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, James explained they issued the statement simply to clear the air.

"Because there’s a lot of rumors that she’s no longer Careless. So we decided to release the statement just to confirm it so there’s no confusion,” he said.

The singer-actor emphasized: “It’s her decision to leave Careless.”

When asked why, he said, “We have different, I guess, career paths. She’s more focused on her US career, going to Hollywood, all of that. And we’re more focused on the Philippines. Music, local."

James maintained that even while she was with them, Liza was always hands on in terms of her career trajectory.

“She has a very clear idea of where she wants to go with her career and everything. And towards the end, basically, she manages herself. And, you know, now that she’s in the US, it makes sense that Careless is no longer in the picture, which I’m okay with.”

James even admitted that Liza was very much at the helm of her landing her first Hollywood film, "Lisa Frankenstein." 

"I introduced the director, but everything after that was really her,” he said.
