Coming off the worst loss in franchise history, the Kings are hoping to put their chase for a playoff spot back on track against the Fuel Masters barely clinging into the Group B race in the showdown that tips off at 7:30 p.m.

Raising the curtain, meanwhile, is a clash between the already playoff-bound Meralco and a Converge team looking to strengthen its hold in the Top 4 in Group A in the 5 p.m. affair.

In contention for a top spot and with an outright playoff spot on the line, the Kings bungled what was supposed to be a showdown between the league’s powerhouse teams. Instead, the Beermen outclassed and dealt them a 49-point beating, 131-82 – the worst loss in franchise history and in head coach Tim Cone’s career.

The loss is certainly a bad memory, which is why Ginebra is eager to move on from when it eyes a quick turnaround against Phoenix.

It would be easier said than done, however, with the Fuel Masters fighting for their tournament lives and coming off their first win of the season when they took down the Blackwater Bossing, 119-114.

There’s not much room for errors for Phoenix at this point as aside from winning all of their remaining games, it also needs the other teams above it to lose all of their last assignments. The Fuel Masters are on a 1-7 slate and a win by either the Road Warriors (3-4) and Bossing (3-5) would formally eliminate them.

Meanwhile in the opening game, the FiberXers are looking to create the much-needed separation against Group A No. 5 NorthPort Batang Pier.

The FiberXers are on a two-game winning run to get into the Top 4 with a 4-4 slate – a game above the Batang Pier who have a 3-5 slate.

Converge, however, is facing a tough climb against Meralco which already punched its ticket to the playoffs after improving to a 6-2 slate. The Bolts, for one ,demolished the FiberXers in their first meeting, 116-88.
