The suspects were identified as Arnold, 64; Nelson, 20; and Alan, 63, residents of Cebu City, Negros Occidental, and Manila, respectively.

Police Lt. Col. Joery Puerto, head of the City Investigation and Detection Management Unit, said that three boxes each containing 50 boxes of tea  passed off as artificial insemination products worth P3.3 million were seized from the suspects.

Puerto said the suspects would allegedly sell each box for P22,000 and convince their victim that these are good for artificial insemination of a cattle.

He said that it took them years to monitor the activities of the suspects as they are not from this city.

Puerto said they subjected them to surveillance after receiving a complaint against them.

In 2022, a complainant lost P125,000 to the suspects when the products they sold turned out to be green peas, according to Puerto.

The following year, another complainant lost P750,000 after they sold boxes of powder.

Puerto said the suspects would offer a sample first to a would-be victim to convince them to order in bulk.

A police poseur-buyer engaged the suspects and bought P400,000 worth of artificial insemination products before they were cornered.

Puerto believes that the suspects may be part of a big group and they have other companions.

He said that two of the suspects have arrest warrants and they are checking their background.

The suspects are detained at Police Station 8.
