2 boys drown in Cagayan

Two boys drowned in Santa Teresita and PeÃ±ablanca, Cagayan this week.

An 11-year-old boy drowned in an irrigation canal in Barangay Villa in Santa Teresita on Tuesday.

Police said the victim, John, a resident of Barangay Villa, and his two friends went to the irrigation canal to fish.

They left him to gather earthworms for bait. They returned and saw the victim floating in the
irrigation canal.

Residents brought John to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Investigation added that the victim suffered from epilepsy in their house near the irrigation canal before the incident.

On Monday, a 12-year-old boy drowned while swimming on the Pinacanauan River in Barangay Centro, PeÃ±ablanca.

The victim Manny was taken by rescuers to the hospital where he was declared dead.
