The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the tropical storm known internationally as “Pulasan” entered the country’s area of responsibility at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

The storm has been given the local name “Helen,” the country’s eighth tropical cyclone for 2024.

Helen is also the fourth tropical cyclone to enter or form within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this month, following “Enteng,” “Ferdie,” and “Gener.”

Two tropical cyclones are currently inside the PAR.

PAGASA said Tropical Depression “Gener” is expected to exit the region between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, Sept. 18.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said Helen may remain inside the PAR only briefly and could exit by Wednesday afternoon or evening.
