CEBU CITY – A lot of fireworks could be expected after the House of Representatives invited the former mayor of this city to attend a joint committee hearing on illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) sites and extrajudicial killings on Thursday, September 19.

The quad-committee, led by Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, invited former Mayor Tomas Osmeña as a resource person at the resumption of the hearing.
A letter indicated that the move to invite Osmena came after a POGO hub in Lapu-Lapu City was raided last month.
"Your testimonies might provide insights and vital information for possible legislation," Barbers said.
Osmeña has yet to confirm if he will attend the hearing.
His appearance in the hearing could provide a lot of fireworks as he will be cross paths with arch-nemesis former Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) chief Royina Garma.
Osmeña was mayor when Garma took over as CCPO chief but the two didn’t see eye-to-eye.
Their conflict even reached the court when Osmena filed a string of charges against Garma in 2019.
Osmeña asked the anti-graft office to investigate Garma for alleged irregularities during the conduct of police operations.
He blamed Garma for the deaths of several individuals here.
Garma appeared in a hearing last September 12 where she was cited for contempt for allegedly evading some questions.
At one point in the hearing, Garma broke down as she did not want to be separated from her daughter.
