P50,000 bounty offered for killers of Grade 11 student


BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office announced on Monday, September 16, that Mayor Albee Benitez has offered a cash reward of P50,000 for information leading to arrest of the two suspects involved in the murder of a Grade 11 student who was falsely accused of rape in Barangay Granada here in June.

The BCPO is intensifying its efforts to locate and arrest the suspects, Dondon and Athan, after an arrest warrant was  issued against them recently.

Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod police director, said the reward is part of this city’s ongoing efforts to ensure swift justice for the heinous crime that shocked the community.

Coronica assured that all information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Twenty-year-old Nicus Balagosa was shot in front of his parents in their home on June 2, a few weeks before his 21st birth anniversary. 

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed four men arriving in car. Two entered his house and their companions acted as lookout.

Police said Balagosa was falsely accused as among the individuals who molesting his 16-year-old female friend.

Lawmen have earlier identified the father of the teenage girl as one of the suspects.

Benitez and Balagosa’s family have urged the suspects to surrender to give justice to him.
