Makati City starts distribution of new bags to students


The Makati City local government on Monday, September 16, started the distribution of its updated school bags to over 15,000 Makatizen students as part of its Project FREE (Free Relevant Excellent Education) initiative.

The event was spearheaded by Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo, and Makati solons Luis Campos and Kid Peña at the Bangkal High School and San Antonio High School. A total of 15,024 Makatizen learners received the school bags.

The city government explained that Junior HS learners (grade 7-10) and Senior HS students (grade 11-12) will also receive the same items.

Under Project FREE, public school students from kinder to senior high school, including Special Education (SPED) students in elementary and high school, will receive school uniforms and supplies from the city.

Students in all levels will each receive school uniforms and PE t-shirt and jogging pants. School bags, caps and dengue kits will also be given to kinder pupils.

Elementary students will also each receive a pair of black leather shoes, three pairs of white socks, Randoseru bags (Grades 1 and 4), dengue kits, and school supplies consisting of 10 pieces of notebooks, five sets of intermediate pads, five ballpens, and five pencils.

Junior and senior high school students will also receive black shoes and socks and the same school supplies package being given to elementary students with a Math Graphing notebook.

Grades 11 and 12 students will also get a hoodie.

For SPED students in elementary and high school, the city will provide school supplies package, school uniforms, leather shoes and three pairs of socks, and anti-dengue kits for elementary SPED.
