NGCP braces for Tropical Depression 'Gener'

Power system operator and transmission provider National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said it prepared its facilities to mitigate the impact of Tropical Depression “Gener.”

In a statement, the NGCP assured that it had readied its communications equipment, hardware materials, and supplies for facility damage repairs and the positioning of line crews in various areas where the storm may hit to restore any power issues.

“[Our] integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP) prescribes these and other procedures to ensure the readiness of all power transmission facilities expected to be affected by the passage of the weather disturbance,” NGCP stated.

According to a weather report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, parts of Luzon may experience the hit of Gener within the next 24 hours.

PAGASA also said that the storm would exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday and is anticipated to intensify into a tropical storm.
