32 rescued from capsized motor banca in Sulu


ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard Sub-Station in Siasi, Sulu rescued 32 individuals from a capsized passenger motor banca on Saturday, September 14.

PASSENGERS and crew of a capsized motor banca are rescued in the sea of Siasi, Sulu.  (PCG) 

The motor banca, owned by Aradjul J. Kahalan and skippered by Sam Sabturani, left Bongao, Tawi-Tawi for Jolo, Sulu, with 23 passengers and nine crew onboard.

The boat capsized while anchored 500 yards west of Siasi Pier due to bad weather.

A concerned citizen, Barok, reported the incident to the PCG that immediately conducted search and rescue operations. The PCG was assisted by civilians in their motor bancas.

Rescued individuals were taken to Siasi Hospital and were declared in good physical condition. They were later on turned over to relatives in Siasi.
