UP-Visayas inked recently a memorandum of agreement for the “Namit Gid!: A Multi Stakeholders’ Collaboration for Ilonggo’s Batchoy.”

According to UP-Visayas, “the project aims to assess the perceived capacity enhancement needs of the batchoy businesses as well as enhance the value chain practices and resource management for batchoy production.”

The batchoy project was an offshoot after Iloilo City was declared as the country’s first United Nations Educationa, Scientific, and Cultural Organization City of Gastronomy last year.

UP-Visayas was represented by Chancellor Clement C. Camposano, UP-Center for Integrative Development Studies Executive Director Prof. Rosalie Alcala-Hall, UP-Visayas-Center for Western Visayan Studies (CWVS) Director Assistant Prof. Frances Anthea Redison, and batchoy project leader Dr. Mary Rose Rebueño.

The city government was represented by Mayor Jerry Treñas, Lea Victoria Lara of the City MICE Center, and Atty. Reinhart Pahila of the Mayor's Office.
