PNP starts case build-up vs people who coddled Quiboloy

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has started preparing criminal charges against several individuals whom it accused of coddling Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy when he was still in hiding.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil did not disclose the names of the individuals whom he said could be held liable for obstruction of justice but said a thorough investigation is already being conducted.

He said the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has been tasked to lead the case build-up.

“We will not tolerate any form of obstruction to justice. Our investigation aims to identify those who knowingly provided refuge to Quiboloy, and we will ensure they face appropriate legal consequences," said Marbil.

“The CIDG will spearhead efforts to gather evidence and  ensure that those complicit in harboring the fugitive are brought to justice,” he added.

Quiboloy started hiding after a Pasig City court issued an arrest warrant for a non-bailable offense of qualified human trafficking. He also faces child abuse case before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.

He was forced to surrender on Sept. 8 after police surrounded the building inside the KOJC compound.

Marbil said Quiboloy could not have eluded his pursuers without the assistance of close associates, including legal representatives who actively misled authorities regarding his exact whereabouts.

"Obstruction of justice is a serious offense, and those who aided in shielding Quiboloy from law enforcement will be charged accordingly. The law is clear—no one is above it, and those who helped Quiboloy will be held accountable," said Marbil.
