One of the two Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) being monitored by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) east of the country developed into a tropical depression on Sunday evening, Sept. 15.

PAGASA located the tropical depression 2,000 kilometers (km) east of Eastern Visayas, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 65 kph.

This weather disturbance is expected to move west-northwestward at 20 kph.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the other LPA located 430 km east of Casiguran, Aurora, inside the PAR, also has a “high” chance of developing into a tropical depression in 24 hours.

The next tropical cyclone names on PAGASA’s list are “Gener” and “Helen.”
