OVP says 2M Pinoys benefitted from its social assistance since 2022
The social programs spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) have served over two million Filipinos since 2022, it said on Sunday, Sept. 15.

As of Aug. 31, 2024, the OVP was able to provide various assistance to "2,027,164 individuals through the agency’s various initiatives, such as medical, burial, and relief programs,” it noted.
But of this figure, the OVP explained that 67 percent, or around 1.5 million, of the beneficiaries were given assistance through the OVP’s 10 satellite offices and two extension offices across the country.
The OVP has satellite offices in the cities of Cebu, Tacloban, Davao, Zamboanga, Surigao, Dagupan, Cotabato City, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Isabela, and Bicol Region
It also has extensions offices in Lipa, Batangas and Tondo, Manila.
“The satellite and extension offices are strategically located in different areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao for accessibility of medical and burial assistance and other social services offered by the OVP,” the statement said.
“The said mechanism aims to bring closer the assistance of OVP to indigent, marginalized, and underserved communities since the areas identified were based on accessibility, volume of traffic, mode of transportation, presence of hospitals, and high people traffic,” it added.
The OVP furthered that its proposed 2025 budget of P2.037 billion will serve 1.4 million Filipinos across the country.
The House appropriations committee earlier slashed the OVP’s proposed budget from P2.037 billion to P733.2 million by realigning some of its key programs to other relevant agencies.
This came after Vice President Sara Duterte argued with lawmakers and accused them of politicizing the budget deliberations to attack her.
But some senators are set to fight for the OVP’s budget and restore the original proposal, though the minority will be given time to scrutinize it.
