No more endo? 56 people hired, promoted in LTO amid efforts to address contractualization

When he assumed the top post of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in July last year, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza vowed to address the contractualization problem involving employees of the agency.

On Monday, Sept. 16, a total of 56 persons were either hired or promoted in various offices of the LTO-Region IV-A which covers the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said filling up plantilla positions has been his advocacy, as he noted that there are a number of LTO employees who continue to renew contracts at least every three months despite their long stay in the agency, locally referred to as endo or end od contract. 

“When I assumed the top LTO post, I promised you that I will take the initiative in addressing this. And now, I am happy that we are starting to fulfill this promise,” said Mendoza. 

“Job security is very important because almost all of us are breadwinners. Job security means financial security for our family, and promotion means additional money that we could spend on the daily expenses in our homes,” he added.

He said the regularization and promotion are not only happening in Calabarzon but also in other regions in the country.

In exchange, Mendoza urged newly-hired and newly-promoted LTO employees to continue serving the government with integrity and hard work. 

In a ceremony held in Lipa City, Mendoza also lauded the Regional Office IV-A, under Regional Director Elmer Decena, for its service excellence that made the regional office one of consistent top performers of the LTO.
