The notion that the Davao trio of former president Rodrigo Duterte, Vice President Sara Duterte, and Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa could be held liable for allegedly coddling Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and serving as obstructions to his arrest is becoming more popular in the House of Representatives.

Adopting this line of thinking was Assistant Minority Leader 1-Rider Party-list Rep. Rodge Gutierrez, who noted that the triumvirate may have been instrumental in hiding the evangelist-leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) for several months from authorities.

“The way that we see it, if indeed it is true that they have prior knowledge on his whereabouts, and then they intentionally hid him, there will be criminal liabilities for that,” Gutierrez, a lawyer, said.

“Whether or not they are liable, we leave it to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to properly seek if there is indeed probable cause, and the proper cases would be filed,” he added.

Former president Duterte, father of Vice President Duterte, serves of the administrator of the KOJC compound in Davao City where Quiboloy was arrested. Before Quiboloy was forced to surrender, he had managed to elude police operations at the compound for two weeks.

As for Vice President Duterte and Senator Dela Rosa, the contention is that they diverted the law enforcers' attention while they were turning to close in on the pastor.

The Vice President in particular insinuated in the days prior to Quiboloy’s arrest that the latter had already left the country.

The elder Duterte considers Quiboloy his spiritual adviser.

The latter, who is known as the self-proclaimed "Appointed Son of God", is facing charges of child abuse, sexual abuse, and qualified human trafficking.
