TS Ferdie exits PAR; trough, 'habagat' to bring rain to parts of the Philippines

Although Tropical Storm Ferdie (international name: Bebinca) has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), rainy weather will persist in parts of the country due to its trough and the southwest monsoon (habagat).

In its weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the tropical cyclone was outside PAR as of 3 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14.

PAGASA said “Ferdie's” trough is expected to affect parts of Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Additionally, PAGASA noted that the southwest monsoon (habagat) will continue to influence weather conditions in Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Monsoon rains are forecasted in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Negros Occidental, while occasional rains are expected in the Bicol Region and the rest of the Negros Island Region due to the habagat.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are anticipated in Metro Manila, the rest of the Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Soccsksargen, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Calabarzon, Zambales, and Bataan.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected in the rest of Mindanao, also due to the habagat.

PAGASA warned of potential flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms and periods of heavy to intense rainfall.
