PNP to hold the parents of alleged Quiboloy minor victims responsible

Parents of the minors who were allegedly abused by Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy will also be held responsible for allowing their children to be subjected to such an ordeal.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said the parents of the abused children are members of the KOJC and appeared to be aware that their minor children, as young as 12 and 13, were being taken to the room of the detained religious leader,

“I could not understand why parents would just close their eyes in the name of faith because this is not right. No parents should allow their children to be used by individuals,” said Fajardo.

When asked if they hold the parents responsible, Fajardo said: “Definitely… if we find out that these (sexual abuse) indeed happened, then they will be held responsible.”

Quiboloy is already facing charges of child abuse in the Philippines and in the United States. The case he is facing in the country, particularly the non-bailable offense of human trafficking, is the reason why he is detained.

PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil earlier said that a number of minors approached policemen during the 16-day operation at the KOJC compound in Davao City to seek help against Quiboloy.

Fajardo said they are now in the process of documenting the statements of the new victims.

“If these are all reduced into writing, then we will be filing additional charges, these are separate from the ongoing trial,” said Fajardo.

Fajardo also urged other victims to seek police assistance, saying the government will be able to protect them.
