Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday, Sept. 14, honored Filipino reservists during the commemoration of the National Reservist Week (NRW) as he lauded that their sacrifices and “love for country” to ensure national security.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the official said that reservists are examples of being true Filipinos.
“Sa panahon ng banta ng terorismo at mga krisis, ang inyong kahandaan, dedikasyon, at mga sakripisyo ay nagbibigay ng seguridad at kapayapaan sa ating mga komunidad (In times of threats of terrorism and crisis, your readiness, dedication, and sacrifices give security and peace to our communities),” she said.
“Ang inyong buhay ay magandang halimbawa ng mga Pilipinong tunay na nagmamahal sa kapwa at nagsisilbi sa bansa na may dangal, paninindigan, at tunay na katapangan (Your lives are great examples of Filipinos who truly love their countrymen and serve the country with dignity, resolve, and true courage),” she added.
The Vice President also cited their courage and readiness to serve the country as these are important in strengthening the nation’s security.
Duterte is a colonel of the Philippine Army Reserve Command in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
In his endorsement speech, Senator Bong Go hailed Duterte’s “strength of character, outstanding background, and proven love for country” to prove that she would be a “great asset” to the Philippine Army Reserve Command.
This year, the NRW has the theme “Tatag ng Laang Kawal para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” focusing on the dedication and patriotism of AFP reservists.
Since its inception in 1979, the NRW served as a platform to unite and recognize the AFP reservists.
