Man killed, 2 pals injured as vehicle rams parked truck in Cebu


CEBU CITY – A man was killed and two others were injured when their pick-up truck rammed a parked trailer truck on the national highway in the City of Naga, southern Cebu early Saturday morning, September 14.

The fatality was identified as Robert Jimenez, legal age. Injured were John Reggie Vivar, 24, and Aaron Mata, 34.

The fatality and the two injured were aboard a Toyota Hilux  driven by Vivar.

Police said the accident happened at 4:40 a.m.

Lt. Col. William Himoc, chief of the Naga City Police Station, said results of a liquor test showed that Vivar and his companions were drunk.

The driver of the trailer truck was identified as Jayson Marven Cabrillos, 25. He was released from police custody after it was proven that the trailer truck was properly parked at the side of the road when the accident happened.

Police said Jimenez, who was seated beside Vivar, was thrown out because of the impact.

Jimenez was declared dead when he was brought to a hospital.
