Senator Risa Hontiveros slammed the motion of the camp of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy asking for the pastor's hospital arrest in Davao City.

"Seryosong mga krimen ng human trafficking, rape, at child abuse ang kinakaharap ni Apollo Quiboloy (Apollo Quiboloy is facing serious crimes of human trafficking, rape, and child abuse)," Hontiveros said in a statement on Saturday, Sept. 14.

"Dapat pantay-pantay ang trato sa mga akusado, anuman ang kanilang katayuan o koneksyon (Those accused should have equal treatment, regardless of theirs status and connections)," she added.

Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Nicholas Felix Ty said on PTV’s Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon that during the arraignment held at the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 139, government prosecutors opposed the request of the Quiboloy camp for the KOJC founder to be placed under house arrest or confined in a hospital.

He said that Quiboloy will remain detained at the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

"Dapat walang special treatment sa kanya. Napaka-entitled at wala sa lugar ang paghiling niya ng hospital arrest sa Davao. Bakit nga ba sa Davao? Dahil ba may isang kaibigan siyang maimpluwensiya doon? (There should be no special treatment for him. Asking for a hospital arrest in Davao is out of place and shows entitlement. Why in Davao? Because he has influential friends there?)" Hontiveros said.

"Wala din siyang karapatan na mamili kung saan niya gustong ma-detain. Wala na siya sa loob ng “King Dome,” kaya huwag na siyang mag-astang Diyos (He has no right to ask where he wants to be detained. He's no longer in his 'King Dome' so he should not act like a God)," she added.

Quiboloy pleaded "not guilty" when arraigned by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on a criminal charge of child sexual abuse on Friday afternoon, Sept. 13.

He also pleaded "not guilty" when arraigned by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on non-bailable qualified trafficking in persons case filed against him and four co-accused.
