Good Samaritan rescues Grade 9 student from drowning

SANTA CATALINA, Ilocos Sur â€“ A Good Samaritan rescued a 14-year-old Grade 9 student from drowning in the sea of Barangay Paratong here on Saturday morning, September 14.

Police Capt. Marlon Martinez, chief of police here, said the victim, Cris Asuncion, of Bantay, Ilocos Sur, was taken away by a strong current while swimming with his friends.

A bystander jumped into the water and rescued the victim from drowning.

Asuncion was taken to a hospital where he is in stable condition.

Martinez reminded the people to take extra precautions while swimming in the sea,
