Commander Jansen Benjamin, head of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-northern Negros Occidental, said the fisherman was rescued and brought home by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management team.

Benjamin advised fishermen to bring a lifebuoy and their mobile phones to enable them to call for assistance in case of emergency.

Meanwhile, two roll-on, roll-off trips here were suspended on Saturday due to bad weather.

Benjamin said that MV Montenegro cancelled trips from Bacolod to Iloilo and vice-versa and FastCat M3 suspended their trips from this city to Iloilo.

He said that trips will resume once the weather or sea condition improves. No passengers were stranded as of posting time,  he said.
