Former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV announced on Saturday, September 14, that he will run for mayor in Caloocan City in the 2025 elections.
Trillanes made the announcement during the mass oathtaking of the Magdalo party list, stating that he had been traveling around Caloocan for months and had "heard the people’s plea for change”.
I have observed and experienced the needs of our people and the significant gaps in addressing their issues. Reform is an understatement of what needs to be done, and I am prepared to take on that challenge to improve Caloocan and its residents),” he said.
I am announcing my candidacy for mayor of Caloocan City),” he added.
Trillanes pointed out that despite Caloocan’s size, the city has faced challenges in development.
He also emphasized that the initial step toward the progress is to eliminate corruption in the city hall.
Trillanes also announced in his X account, where he posted "Today, I formally announce my candidacy for Mayor of Caloocan City in the 2025 elections."
"Parating na po ang pagbabago... (Change is coming...),” he added.
