Zobel matriarch Doña Beatriz passes away

Doña Beatriz Zobel de Ayala, the wife of Ayala Corporation (AC) Chairman Emeritus Jaime Zobel de Ayala, has passed away on Sept. 23, 2024 at the age of 88.

In a brief statement, AC said the news was shared among the conglomerate’s employees earlier today (Sept. 24).

“Thank you for reaching out for a statement, but the family requests privacy during this most difficult time,” it added.

Born in Madrid on Feb. 29, 1936, Doña Bea is the mother of Ayala Chairman Jaime Augusto, Fernando, Bea Jr., Patsy, Cristina, Monica, and Sofia.

“Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Sept. 27, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at the Sanctuario de San Antonio Church, Forbes Park, Makati City," the statement to friends and employees said.

It added that "in lieu of flowers, donations to her favorite charities, Friends of Elsie Gaches and Tuloy Foundation would be kindly appreciated."
