Special nonworking days declared in various localities

President Marcos has issued numerous proclamations declaring special nonworking days in various parts of the country.

The President on Sept. 11 issued Proclamation No. 680, declaring Sept. 20, 2024, a special nonworking day in Dingras, in honor of Josefa Llanes-Escoda, a World War II heroine and the founder of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines.

Dingras commemorates the birth of Llanes-Escoda on Sept. 20, 1898.

The proclamation, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, said it is fitting and proper that the people of Dingras municipality “be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.”

The Chief Executive likewise issued Proclamation No. 681, declaring Sept. 21, 2024, a special nonworking day in San Mateo, Rizal to celebrate its 452nd Founding Anniversary.

Marcos said the people of San Mateo must be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.  

Marcos made a similar issuance for Mountain Province. Under Proclamation No. 682, Oct. 4, 2024, is a special nonworking day to mark the celebration of the Provincial Indigenous People’s Day.

It will also be a special nonworking day on Oct. 7, 2024, in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur, and on Oct. 23, 2024, in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, through the issuance of Proclamation Nos. 683 and 684, respectively.  

Zamboanga del Sur marks the celebration of the 33rd Araw ng Guipos, while Narvacan celebrates the Aldaw Ti Wayawaya-lli A Narvacan.

Marcos issued Proclamation No. 685, declaring Oct. 24, 2024, a special nonworking day in Pili, Camarines Sur, in celebration of the Cimarrones Festival. The proclamation aims to let the people of Pili participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.

Meanwhile, the President also declared Oct. 25, 2024, as a special nonworking day in Lemery, Batangas, through Proclamation No. 686, as the town will mark its founding anniversary.
