And with the Los Angeles Games still in her sight, the Southeast Asian Games' women's 57kg class reigning champion wants to take it one tournament at a time.

“Actually pinagplanuhan na po namin nila coach Reynaldo (Gallido) and ni Coach Mitchell (Martinez),” Petecio during her visit at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Thursday afternoon, Sept. 12.

“Sabi ko sa kanila mag-direct nalang ako sa SEA Games," added the 32-year-old boxer.

Donning the national colors since 2007, the Davao pride won't take further risks to prolong her career.

“Hindi na masyado sa mga invitationals kasi syempre ‘di nako same na no’ng nasa lakas ng katawan gaya no’ng 20s pa ako, kahit ilang laro pa ‘yan,” Petecio continued.

“Kaya direct na po ako sa mga major competitions,” she added.

Last month, Petecio guaranteed won bronze in the French capital after reaching the women’s 57kg class semifinal, making her the third Filipino athlete to become a back-to-back Olympic medalist.
