The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has confirmed a security incident that compromised the administrator account of one of its test computers.
According to the state-owned pension fund, the breach was reported on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 5:20 PM.
While the extent of the breach is still under investigation, GSIS assured its employees, members, and pensioners that their personal information remains secured.
The compromised computer was a test device containing dummy data and was immediately taken offline upon discovery of the incident, the GSIS said.
“GSIS is now validating the claims of the intruder in order to ensure full compliance with the requirements of the Data Privacy Act,” the fund said in a statemet on Friday, Sept. 13.
The GSIS said it is implementing necessary measures to protect its systems and information and will continue to take all actions necessary to ensure the security and privacy of the data entrusted to it.
