Foreigners yield multiple firearms in Makati police op


Two Vietnamese and two Chinese nationals were arrested for possessing multiple high-caliber firearms following a search warrant operation at a condominium unit in Makati City Thursday night, September 12.

The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspects as "Zhou," 28, "Phuong," 30, both Vietnamese nationals and are the primary subject of the search warrant.

Two Chinese nationals identified as "Li," 33, and "Zhang," were also nabbed.

The four were occupants of the condo unit.

Based on the police report, the operation was conducted by the Investigation and Detection Management Section (IDMS) together with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and personnel from the Ayala Sub-station of the Makati City Police Station.

The search warrant for Zhou and Phuong was issued by Hon. Cristina Javalera Sulit, 1st Vice Executive Judge of the Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Police recovered a rifle, a submachine gun, and a pistol along with several rounds of live ammunition from the suspects.

SPD director PBGen. Leon Victor Rosete said the suspects will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
