Classes suspended in 13 towns, 8 cities in Negros Occidental
BACOLOD CITY – Thirteen towns and nine cities in Negros Occidental suspended classes on Friday, September 13, due to inclement weather caused by the southwest monsoon or ‘‘habagat’’ enhanced by severe tropical storm “Bebinca.”

Classes on all levels were cancelled in the cities of Bago, Sipalay, Kabankalan, La Carlota, Himamaylan, Talisay, Silay, and Victorias and the towns of Binalbagan, Isabela, Hinigaran, Pulupandan, Cauayan, Hinoba-an, E.B. Magalona, Candoni, Ilog, Pontevedra, Valladolid, Moises Padilla, and Murcia.
Mayor Albee Benitez suspended classes from pre-school to senior high school in this city. Benitez left the suspension of classes on the college level to school heads.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said on Friday that rainfall is affecting Bacolod, Sipalay, Kabankalan, Himamaylan, La Carlota, Bago, Candoni, Cauayan, Ilog, Binalbagan, Hinigaran, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Valladolid, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Murcia, Pulupandan, and Hinoba-an.
Flooding is possible in Himamaylan, Kabankalan, Sipalay, Hinoba-an, Candoni, Cauayan, and Ilog, the agency said.
Sea trips remain normal, the the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-northern Negros Occidental said.
