Nida Amolar, Philippine Statistics Authority-6 officer-in-charge and chief statistical specialist, attributed this to the lower food inflation rate, from 7.4 percent in July to 6.5 percent in August, due to lower prices of meat, fish, seafood, and cereal products last month.

The inflation rate for meat dropped to 13.1 percent in August from 15.3 percent in July.

The regional capital of Iloilo City still has the lowest inflation rate for August at 3.7 percent.

However, this is 1.9 percent higher than  July with  1.8 percent.

The province of Iloilo and Bacolod City have the highest inflation rate at 5.6 percent.

The inflation rate was 5.5 percent in Guimaras province, 5.3 percent in Antique province, 4.5 percent in Aklan province, and 4.3 percent in Capiz province.
