Retired police general Lantion replaces Lorenzana as BCDA chair
President Marcos has designated retired police general Thompson Lantion as the new acting chairperson of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Lantion replaced former Department of National Defense (DND) chief Delfin Lorenzana.
Malacañang made the announcement on Tuesday night, Sept. 10.
According to Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez, Lantion took his oath of office before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Monday.
Aside from being a former police general, Lantion also served as the secretary general of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, which is chaired by the President.
In a statement, Lorenzana congratulated the new BCDA head, saying "I am confident that Chairman Lantion will be able to sustain - if not surpass - the progress that we have made in BCDA."
Lorenzana disclosed that he was stepping down to "transition to a private life."
He thanked Marcos for his trust and confidence towards him, and vowed that he will continue to help the government in any way he can.
"I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead this vital agency and to contribute to the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) modernization efforts to the best of my official and personal capacity. I am also immensely grateful for the unwavering dedication, hard work, and support of the BCDA Board of Directors, the Management, and the entire staff throughout my tenure. I am proud of what we have achieved together," Lorenzana said.
