CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Ninety-one loose firearms were surrendered to the police during the month-long implementation of "Oplan Katok" in Central Luzon from August 1 to 31.
Police conducted house-to-house visits to remind firearm holders to renew their licenses or voluntarily turn over unregistered firearms for safekeeping.
Police Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., Police Regional Office-3 chief, said that Oplan Katok is a nationwide initiative of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
"This serves as a reminder that owning a firearm is a serious responsibility, and every gun owner must comply with the law and remain accountable," Hidalgo said.
