Filipino Paris Paralympians receive P1M each from PBBM

President Marcos has awarded the Filipino athletes who participated in the recent Paralympics in Paris, France, with P1 million each.

MEETING PARALYMPIANS — President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr., together with the first family, meets the Filipino Paralympians who participated in the recently concluded Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in Malacañan on Sept. 12, 2024. The  President awarded P1 million cash incentive and Presidential citation to each of the six Paralympians, namely Cendy Asusano (Athletics, Javelin Throw), Agustina Bantiloc (Archery), Allain Ganapin (Taekwondo), Ernie Gawilan (Athletics, Wheelchair Racing), and Angel Otom (Swimming). Marcos, along with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and sons Simon and Vincent, met the Paralympians in Malacañan on Thursday, Sept. 12.

The Paralympians present during the event were para-swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Otom, para-athletes Cendy Asusano and Jerrold Mangliwan, para-archer Agustina Bantiloc, and para-taekwondo jin Allain Ganapin.

Each athlete received P1 million from the Office of the President (OP) as well as a presidential citation.

The awards were handed over by the President, together with Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, and Philippine Paralympic Committee President Michael Barredo.

The Paralympic Games were held in Paris, France, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8, with participation from more than 4,000 athletes representing 168 delegations worldwide.
