In an advisory issued on Thursday, Sept. 12, DepEd announced that it is conducting an online survey to gather baseline data on Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and other health insurance needs.

The survey is being conducted through DepEd’s Bureau of Human Resources and Organizational Development (BHROD).

Medical allowance

Pending the utilization guidelines from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), DepEd stated that the government will begin providing an annual medical allowance of up to P7,000 starting in 2025, under Executive Order No. 64, s. 2024, signed by President Marcos.

“The medical allowance is available to eligible government civilian personnel, including public school teachers, to help subsidize the cost of HMO-type services,” DepEd said.

“The allowance can be used for various medical services to support public employees in preparing for health-related emergencies,” DepEd added.

DepEd noted that all its permanent, regular, plantilla employees—both teaching and non-teaching—from all governance levels are encouraged to participate in the survey.

This includes employees of any rank, gender, age, ethnicity, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

To ensure that only its employees can complete the form, DepEd reminded employees to sign in using their official DepEd email accounts.

DepEd has directed regional and division IT officers to assist teachers and non-teaching personnel who may experience difficulty accessing their official DepEd email accounts.

Teaching and non-teaching employees of DepEd can complete the survey form on or before Sept. 30, 2024.
