QC LGU orders closure of warehouse for storing uncertified batteries


The Quezon City government ordered the closure of a warehouse for storing uncertified lead-acid batteries in Barangay Manresa, Quezon City on Tuesday, September 10.

According to the city’s public information office, the city’s Business Permit and Licensing Department (BPLD), along with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Task Force Kasalag, Fair Trade Group-Fair Trade and Enforcement Bureau (FTG-FTEB) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), led the operation.

The uncertified batteries were found to be in violation of the Philippine Standard License, Import Commodity Clearance, and other marking requirements under Republic Act 4109, Executive Order 133 of 1987, and RA 7394, also known as the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

Authorities seized over 20,000 units of uncertified batteries valued at P93.3 million during the operation.

The local government affirmed its commitment to cooperate with relevant agencies to ensure consumer safety and uphold fair business practices in the city.
