CEBU CITY—At least P3-million worth of illegal drugs were seized and more than 200 individuals were arrested in a 72-hour simultaneous police operation in Central Visayas.

The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that the series of police operations from September 6 to 8 led to the arrest of 269 individuals and confiscation of 430 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.9 million.
Marijuana plants worth P4,400 were also uprooted.
The arrested persons included 112 individuals who were apprehended for illegal gambling.
In the campaign against loose firearms, 30 unlicensed guns were seized while 14 persons were arrested and charged in court, the PRO-7 said.
The PRO-7 added that 49 persons with pending arrest warrants were arrested, including 10 most wanted persons.
Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7, commended the region’s various police units for the successful anti-criminality drive.
“We are implementing comprehensive strategies to effectively address criminality in the region. In launching these police operations, we put premium on the adherence with the police operational procedure and observance of human rights,” Aberin said.
Aberin said the support of the community has been a big help in PRO-7’s bid to keep the region safe and peaceful.
