The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) has expressed readiness to accommodate Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) leader Apollo Quiboloy Jr. in case he is detained in its supervised Quezon City Jail facility.
In an interview, BJMP spokesperson Chief Inspector Jayrex Joseph Bustinera said they are currently on ‘standby’ status as the beleaguered Quiboloy remains in custody of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
With speculations on the possible preferential treatment for high-profile inmates like Quiboloy, Bustinera shrugged this claim off with the assurance that “Mr. Quiboloy will be treated like any other PDL (person deprived of liberty), in accordance with the law and jail regulations.’’
“We also guarantee his (Quiboloy) security and safety while in BJMP custody,’’ he added.
BJMP Director Ruel Rivera warned the concerned jail wardens and personnel that the most possible strictest sanctions allowed by law will be meted against any BJMP men found providing “VIP (very important person) treatment’’ to any PDL.
On September 10, Bustinera said that the BJMP was awaiting Quiboloy’s release to the BJMP after a court order designated the detention of the church leader at the Quezon City jail detention facility.
“Hindi man na transfer (Quiboloy) ng PNP. Standby lang kami (Quiboloy has yet to be transferred by the PNP. We are just on standby),’’ Bustinera said.
But the PNP remained steadfast in retaining Quiboloy’s custody and the other accused despite the court’s order of their transfer to the Quezon City Jail.
On Sept. 8, Quiboloy and the four other KOJC members were nabbed and are presently detained at the PNP Custodial Center at Camp Crame where dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo is also detained.
