Pasig City ranks 9th in highly urbanized cities rankings


The City of Pasig ranked 9th in the 2024 Highly Urbanized Cities under the Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index (CMCI) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) held during its Creative Cities and Municipalities Congress.

The CMCI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.

The overall ranking was based on five criteria: economic dynamism, government efficiency,  infrastructure, resiliency and innovation.

Pasig, under the leadership of Mayor Vico Sotto, recorded a total score of 43.74 percent in the classification.

In terms of economic dynamism, which refers to the economic activity of a local government unit (LGU), the city ranked 8th with a total score of 5.8656 percent.

It ranked 10th place in terms of government efficiency that refers to the quality and reliability of government services and support.

Meanwhile, for the innovation category, Pasig ranked 16th with a score of 8.1345 percent, and 12th place in terms resiliency or the city's capacity to sustain competitiveness.

Lastly, the city placed 12th in the infrastructure category after receiving a total of 6.2542 percent score, a percentage higher than its record of 5.7601 percent in 2023.

According to the records of DTI, Pasig City consecutively ranked and maintained its 9th place for the years 2023 and 2024, placing 8th in the 2024 Most Improved Rankings for highly urbanized cities.
