Tip-off of the much-anticipated showdown that would once again pit Bossing import George King Jr. against Kings resident reinforcement Justin Brownlee is at 7:30 p.m. with an interesting duel between contrasting teams, Rain or Shine (4-1) and Phoenix (0-5), serving as appetizer at 5:30 p.m.

More than a week ago, Blackwater (3-3) pulled off a king-sized upset over Ginebra with a 95-88 victory — a game that served as turning point to the two teams’ respective campaigns.

Brimming with confidence from the win, the Bossing went on a surge and won their next three games to suddenly put themselves back into playoff contention after their chances were already looking bleak after a 0-3 start.

Ginebra (3-2), on the other hand, took its loss by the chin and used it as a wake-up call as the Kings finally strung together two straight victories for their first streak of the season.

Both teams are both undefeated since their first-round meeting.

For Blackwater head coach Jeff Cariaso, the Bossing are determined to keep their streak going and solidify their spot inside the Group B top four heading into the crucial stretch of the eliminations.

“We're fortunate to have won the last three games but we feel like our backs are still against the wall and we need to keep pushing,” said Cariaso who once again will be leaning on import King, veteran Troy Rosario and super rookie Sedrick Barefield to lead the charge.

King exploded for 33 points and 19 rebounds in his first PBA game against Ginebra and since then has not slowed down.

Ginebra head coach Tim Cone, meanwhile, is under no illusion that the Kings would easily exact their revenge against the Bossing

“It’s a big game for both of us, opening up the second round. They’ve won three games in a row,we’ve put together two in a row. They really handled us well and that was not a fluke,” said Cone.

“They beat us sound. They outplayed us. They outhustled us. And we’re gonna have to put a better game together to have a chance against them,” added the veteran coach who is looking at his locals in Japeth Aguilar, Stephen Holt and Scottie Thompson to support Brownlee and sustain their run.

Meanwhile in the opening game, Group B leader Rain or Shine hopes to get back on track after a heartbreaking 113-112 loss to San Miguel that saw June Mar Fajardo hitting the game-winner at the buzzer.

Standing on its way, however, is the struggling Phoenix which is looking to finally find the winning formula after being winless through the first round.
