TACLOBAN CITY – Suspected shabu valued at P277.5 million was left behind by a suspected drug courier during an anti-carnapping operation on Saturday, August 31, on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Jubasan, Allen, Northern Samar.
SUSPECTED shabu valued at P277.5 million was recovered from a drug courier in a checkpoint in Allen, Northern Samar on Saturday, August 31.
The Northern Samar Provincial Highway Patrol Team and the Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office-8 flagged down a Sports Utility Vehicle for a routine inspection.
However, the vehicle had no license plates and the driver, a man, Sander, of Barangay Tubod, Iligan City, Lanao del Norte, failed to present official registration documents, only a vehicle sales invoice.
The suspect, who exhibited nervous behavior, fled the vehicle and left behind his mobile phone and car keys and ran towards the mountains of Barangay Jubasan.
A visual inspection of the vehicle revealed a suspicious plastic bag with Chinese markings.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit-Northern Samar recovered 37 packs of suspected shabu covered in black plastic with Chinese markings, the suspect’s driver's license, and other pieces of evidence.
The Police Regional Office-8 has launched a dragnet operation to apprehend the suspect.
