Under the said law, which was first proposed in Congress by District 1 Representative Cong. Oca Malapitan, Barangays 176-A to Barangay 176-F will be autonomous from each other and will have their local officials.

Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan expressed his support for the division of the said barangay.

The city government fully supports the decision made by our locals to divide Barangay Bagong Silang into six so that we can serve the residents more efficiently),” the city mayor said.

Based on the Barangay Plebiscite Board of Canvassers’ proclamation, 22,854 residents voted "yes" to dividing the barangay while 2,584 votes were counted for “no”.

The Barangay Bagong Silang will be divided into six barangays with the following names:

  • Barangay 176-A
  • Barangay 176-B
  • Barangay 176-C
  • Barangay 176-D
  • Barangay 176-E
  • Barangay 176-F

Malapitan also said that they will coordinate with Comelec to assign barangay leaders.

Now that the division of Barangay 176 Bagong Silang into six barangays is official, the Caloocan City Government will cooperate with the Commission on Elections in the appointment of leaders in each barangay),” Malapitan said.

To the Batang Kankaloo in the new barangays, we will make sure that nothing will change in the benefits you received before in the former Barangay 176. Please expect that the city government will further strengthen the programs previously implemented for your welfare),” he added.
