BJMP personnel arrested for selling marijuana oil to PDLs in Manila City Jail
A personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) was arrested after selling high-grade marijuana oil to inmates inside the Manila City Jail, the Manila Police District reported on Sunday, Sept. 1.
Police identified the suspect as Jail Officer 1 (JO1) John Rey Manalete assigned at the Manila City Jail.

According to the BJMP, they had been monitoring the suspect for a long time after receiving reports that he was selling illegal drugs to persons deprived of liberty (PDL).
It said other officers intercepted the suspect when they saw him carrying another package inside the city jail.
Police said the suspect was immediately arrested after discovering three syringes containing tetrahydrocannabinol inside the package.
The investigation revealed that the suspect sold the marijuana oil to PDLs for P50,000.
The Manila City Jail said they will continue to investigate the case and strengthen their policies to prevent such things from happening again.
