CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro on Friday afternoon, August 9, disclosed the arrest of a New People’s Army regional adviser listed as the Caraga region’s No. 1 most wanted person in Parañaque City on Monday, August 5.
The suspect, identified as Umbid, 72, arrived in the region on Thursday, August 8.
Umbid had warrants of arrest for four counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, two counts of frustrated murder, two counts of rebellion, robbery, and grave coercion, Nazarro said.
The suspect was among the NPA rebels who allegedly harassed the Lianga Municipal Police Station on April 28, 2011.
Nazarro commended the Lianga police, 9th Special Force Company, Regional Intelligence Division-13, Surigao del Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit, and the Parañaque police for arresting the suspect.
“I applaud our operatives for the apprehension of the top most wanted person of Caraga,” he said. “This success demonstrates our strong desire to bring those persons who have standing warrants of arrest behind bars.”
