The Property Geek: Accelerating your real estate career

Tips and advice on how you will ace your degree without sacrificing work as a real estate agent

July 2024 was a month of graduation. Future leaders in our communities will be facing a new chapter in their lives, and so are the graduates of BS in Real Estate Management, and yours truly is part of this year’s graduates of real estate management.

I’ve been practicing my profession as a real estate salesperson for half a decade, and last year, I decided to take BS in Real Estate Management. As an industrial engineering graduate, which is related to business, I was able to finish it in one year.

Yes, it is possible, so I am sharing this with those aspiring brokers who want to further their careers in real estate.

It has been my practice to give value to my audience—not just about the properties that I am selling, but also the opportunities that I can also share with those who are trying their careers in this industry.

There are a lot of possibilities when you graduate with a BS in Real Estate Management because you will not just have the chance to be a broker, but you can also take the appraiser and be a consultant.

For this article, I will share some tips and advice on how you will ace your degree without sacrificing work as a real estate agent:

1. Enroll in a school that offers a hybrid or fully online classroom setup. Thankfully, a lot of industries are coping with the new normal, and it was very helpful when I had the chance to finish my degree from the comfort of my home. The schedule is very friendly because the classes start at 7 p.m. after office hours to give way to those students who are working.

2. Look for an institution that offers a “crash course” or getting a degree in just two years, especially for those who already obtained an initial undergraduate program. For those who obtained a degree related to business, you can earn your BS in Real Estate Management in just a year—two semesters and one summer term, to be exact.

3. Assess yourself. Is it really the industry that you want to explore in the long run? Knowing your passion is very crucial in order for you to know if this is really the arena where you want to give value to your audience.

In our generation, I am glad that there are a lot of opportunities that are just there, and knowing that it is up to us who will just make our move and act, we are still lucky that we have these opportunities.
