CEBU CITY – Suspected shabu amounting to P20.8 million was seized in buy-bust operations conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA-7) in Lapu-Lapu City and this city on Thursday, August 8.

The PDEA-7 together with personnel of the Naval Forces Central and Lapu-Lapu City Police Office arrested a 26-year-old man in itio Kadulang, Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu on Thursday afternoon.
Seized from Mark Niño Caliniahan, native of Tagbilaran City, Bohol, was two kilos of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P13.6 million.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA-7, said it took a month of case build-up before the suspect was cornered.
Alcantara said the PDEA-7 started monitoring Caliniahan after an arrested drug suspect identified him as an alleged source of illegal drugs.
She said Caliniahan had been renting a boarding house in Lapu-Lapu during his illegal drug operation.
The suspect was capable of selling a kilo of shabu per week.
Meanwhile, two persons were arrested and more than a kilo of shabu worth P7.2 million was confiscated at dawn in Barangay Sawang Calero here.
Suspects Isabel Rogodos Abellana, 37, and Ariel Rey Sab Baclay, 38, residents of Talisay City, Cebu were monitored for at least two months before they were finally arrested, Alcantara said.
The PDEA-7 said that Abellana received her supply of illegal drugs through an inmate at the Cebu City Jail.
