The Philippines may remain tropical cyclone-free in the coming week, based on the weekly weather outlook issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, Aug. 9.
While the country may not have a tropical cyclone, rain showers and thunderstorms are still possible, particularly in various areas.
From Saturday to Monday, Aug. 10 to 13, the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” will bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with a higher chance of brief rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Abra, Benguet, Oriental Mindoro, and northern Palawan, mostly in the early morning, afternoon, or evening.
From Wednesday to Friday, Aug. 14 to 16, the entire archipelago may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with the possibility of rain showers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening.
