ILOILO CITY – Soldiers killed six New People’s Army rebels in separate clashes in Iloilo province this week.

SIX New People's Army rebels were killed in encounters in Calinog, Iloilo this week, five of them in Barangay Aglonok.
The 12th Infantry Battalion and the 82nd IB recovered five more bodies in a mountain barangay in Calinog town last Thursday, August 8, three days after the initial gun battle last Monday, August 5, where a ranking leader of the NPA Central Front Committee in Panay Island was killed.
The Army 3rd Infantry Division (ID) said three separate clashes occurred between the NPA and troops from the 12th and 82nd IBs in far-flung Barangay Aglonok last Thursday.
The fatalities were believed to be from the NPA Central Front Committee in Panay Island.
Recovered from the slain communist guerillas were two M16 rifles, a grenade launcher, an anti-personnel mine, magazines, and ammunition.
