Blackwater finally got a glimpse of what it is getting in No. 2 overall pick Sedrick Barefield during the team's tuneup games in the leadup for the season-opening Governors’ Cup and head coach Jeff Cariaso said that he has been living up to expectations so far.

Cariaso said the Bossing are slowly integrating Barefield into the scheme of things since he is playing catch-up with the preparations after Blackwater already began training a month ago.

“I think you can see where he levels up. You can see in instances how good he could be. Like I said we’re making sure that he gets to the proper game shape,” said Cariaso.
“We drafted him at No. 2 with the expectations that he can contribute right away, and so far naman that’s what we are seeing. I think he will be able to. He will definitely have the opportunity so I think that’s how good he is,” he added.
With Barefield, Blackwater is hoping to turn things around this season after failing to advance to the playoffs in the last two conferences. He is expected to join a core that featured Troy Rosario, Rey Suerte and James Kwekuteye along with NBA caliber
